Since its foundation in 1891, Emmanuel has supported mission work at home and abroad - a commitment that has lasted to this day. We are proud of our long tradition of significant contributions to mission activities in our local and world-wide communities.

Emmanuel's mission works include donations of funds, time and labor to those in need. The largest portion of our mission budget goes to the unified budget of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey. These funds are used in local, state, national, and international mission efforts. In addition to monetary contributions, we also provide opportunities for members and friends to become involved in hands-on mission work within our communities.
  • Interreligious Fellowship for the Homeless: an area organization that coordinates food and shelter for the homeless in our area. Emmanuel provides shelter for 10 guests on Tuesday evenings every October and November.

  • Center for Food Action: a food bank that supplies emergency food and services for citizens of Bergen and Passaic Counties. Center For Food Action's Website

Additional agencies and groups that we support include:

  • Camp Lebanon: a summer camp and conference center that provides Christian growth experiences for youth and adults in New Jersey;

  • Green Lake Conference Center: a national training and conference site in Green Lake, Wisconsin;

  • Habitat for Humanity: a non-profit housing ministry working in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing;

  • Bread for the World: a lobbying organization dedicated to addressing the issue of hunger around the world;

  • Social Service Association of Ridgewood and Vicinity: an organization which provides basic supplemental financial assistance and case management services to individuals and families;

  • Church World Service: a disaster relief organization that serves people around the world.

Additional organizations that receive our support include the Baptist World Alliance, and North American Baptist Peace Fellowship. We also make contributions to ecumenical services by donating to the Bergen County Council of churches, New Jersey Council of Churches, National Council of Churches, International Council of Community Churches, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration in Ridgewood.
